  • Describe how the 9th grade students are tracking the progress of the issue we reported using stickies and posters.  What do each posters mean?

There are one that is opened which means it has been just seen. Acknowledged which means theyve reviewed it and have said its g. Then closed mean aight its g weve fixed the problem.

  • Did you change the status of the issue you reported on a poster?  Explain why, or why not.

Mostly the ones that have to do with graffiti are still there and they haven’t been changed and they are still on opened. It is mostly graffiti and illegal trash dumping.

  • Do you think 9th grade students are gaining agency based on their efforts on this project?  Explain your answer.

  • What does the company called SEECLICKFIX do for people living in Oakland?

They go and fix the problems that the fremont high school reported like graffiti and illegal dumping.

  • Do you think SEECLICKFIX helps people in Oakland to resist oppression and gain agency?  Explain why, or why not.

No i do not because the people who did the graffiti or the illegal dumping are still gonna do it because they dont care because they had done it in the first place.

  • Explain the story of how you took your picture for the SEECLICKFIX project (Describe what you took a picture of, when you took it, where you were, how, and why).

I took the picture of graffiti and there is a ton of it by the train tracks but theres no point of fixing it cause itll just be a blank canvas for the next person to do their “art” on it.

  • What did you do in class to join SEECLICKFIX?  Describe the steps you took.

I had made an account by putting my email and making up a password. Then i had ro locate and say where the graffiti was.

  • What did you do in class to report an issue to SEECLICKFIX?  Describe the steps you took.

I located myself described where it was and put the street that it was nearby and where i had seen it.

  • Do you predict that the City of Oakland will fix the problem you reported?  Explain why, or why not.

I think they wont because there is a wall going on for a very long way and its gonna end up getting painted again.

What is the name of the student whose Infographic you reviewed?

The person whose infographic i graded was Karens.

What feedback did you give to that student in the comments section of their edublog?

I told them that i agreed with them because they used complete sentences and how they said how their source was reliable.

What kind of things do you expect another student will have to say about the infographic that you created, and your answer about reliable sources?

I think they will say that i did not get credit because i feel like i did not answer all the questions.

I think slavery still changes peoples lives because some african american people get bullied because of that. If an african american person got into an argument with another person theyll bring up something about slavery and how their parents or grandparents were “slaves” even though they probably weren’t.

Edublog assignment #4

What is a dominant narrative?

Dominant narrative is when a person with power or privilege tell a story of someone who is not.

What are two examples of a dominant narrative?

One example of dominant narrative is a rich white woman explaining how it is to be poor. The reason why this is a dominant narrative is because the rich woman is rich and doesn’t know what it’s like to be poor because she has more $.

Another example is a rich white women explaining how slavery was. The reason why this is a dominant narrative is because there is a rich white women explaining how slavery felt like. This is dominant because she never went through slavery.

I live in oakland on 45th. My neighborhood is very calm. I am a very funny person who is very intelligent as well. I think that i am a very annoying child because im always bothering everybody. I love real madrid and im also mexican and im a boy.

To begin with dominant narrative means a story told by a person with more power or privilege. A dominant narrative that i choose is a picture of homer simpson being lazy. The reason why i choose this is because many people will describe mexicans as lazy. These images made me feel kind of sad because a lot of mexicans come here to find work.

Another kind of narrative is a counter narrative and counter narrative is when you tell a story from like your perspective or from like a person you have equal power to. Animage I choose is a person multi tasking. The reason why is because im a hardworking student and i multitask to get my work done and to get good grades. This made me feel proud of myself because i try to work hard to do my best

Furthermore the pictures that i put inside my identity box is a picture of the prestige master logo. A dominant narrative would be if its from a game and thats the highest rank then he has no life or just stays and plays video games all day. I disagree with that because i want to make that into my job I want to go MLG and play with the big players like OpTic Scump or Karma or attach. My other picture is of my favorite team club america and dominant narrative would say hes not gonna make it because hes lazy but i want to play in that team and its also a goal of mine. This images made me feel like thinking about my future because i don’t know what i want to b when i get older.

In conclusion people see me as a student who goes to fremont high who probably never does his work because he goes to a bad school. I am a hardworking student that tries my best to get my education and do well in school to my get my grades. I think its important because if i work hard to do my work i should get credit. I learned that dominant narrative is very important because its just people talking badly about others.

In your own words describe what you are supposed to do to complete the 2016 Identity Project.  What will you do to make your shadowbox special?

What we are supposed to do is that we are supposed to get a bunch of pictures that describe a counter narritive and a dominant narrative and a bunch of pictures that represent who we are.
